iLines Spam Filter

All email messages for iLines email users will be checked in 2 ways.

  1. All incoming email will first be checked to see if it comes from a known spamming source.  If so, that email is rejected by the server (not stored) and will not reach the user's mailbox.
  2.  All  messages will then be categorized by iLines into 3 categories with the following actions automatically applied:

Low – All messages that meet this category will have the word [Spam] added to the subject line of the email, and then delivered to your ‘Inbox’.  If you would like to move the Low spam messages to your ‘Junk E-mail’ folder you can do that under the webmail Options->Advanced->Spam Rules settings. NOTE: Only the actions you choose for Low Risk spam will apply. Moderate and High Risk spam actions are controlled by the iLines email server

Medium – All messages that meet this category will be delivered to the webmail ‘Junk E-Mail’ folder.

High – All messages that meet this category will be automatically deleted.

If you find email from a particular sender keeps getting flagged as spam you can add them to your personal Whitelist under the webmail Options->Mail->Whitelist and they will be ignored from all future spam checks.

No spam filter will ever catch 100% of all spam.  As our spam filter constantly adjusts to recognize new types of spam, spammers also work tirelessly to alter their spamming tactics.

If you receive a message that passed through the filter and you believe it is spam you may deal with it in following ways.

  1. Wait for the iLines spam filter to learn to recognize the message as spam.
  2. Add the sender to your personal Blacklist. The Blacklist is stored under 'Options->Mail->Blacklist'. Any address on the blacklist will be rejected for your mailbox only.

Please refer to the webmail user's manual or Contact Us if you have any additional questions.
