Is there a long-term contract required?

No, iLines is a month by month service with no long-term commitment contracts.

What is included in a standard wireless installation?

Standard Wireless Installation – Includes (1) one wireless radio, (2) one mounting foot, if necessary, attached to a customer provided house, building, post or pole that is deemed safe by the installer, (3) up to 330 feet of shielded direct bury Cat 5 cable run from the wireless radio to the customer’s equipment and if necessary is to be buried by the customer, (4) one exterior wall penetration, (5) one wall box with face plate, if possible, and (6) one Ethernet cable from the radio power supply to the Customer’s equipment (less than 20 feet). Installation also includes up to 2.5 man hours of labor.

Does iLines install on rental properties or appartments?

Multi-tenant buildings - Due to logistical and liability issues, iLines is no longer able to install new service at multi-tenant buildings and apartment complexes.

Single-family rental homes - Because a wireless install usually requires holes to be drilled in the building's structure, a signed Renter Installation Form is required before iLines will install wireless service.

Are wireless download speeds guaranteed?

The speed quoted is the "sustained" or speed limit iLines sets the customer Internet access to. All wireless service is a shared "best effort" service and as such iLines does not guarantee that you will be able to sustain the advertised speed 24/7. Factors such as customer/network load and signal quality will also play a factor.

Does Voice over IP (VOIP) work with wireless?

Voice over IP is a technology that communicates voice over an Internet connection. VOIP is extremely susceptible to packet loss and high latency. Due to this fact, a quality voice connection is possible with our wireless Internet depending on your signal and connection quality. However, VOIP has not been thoroughly tested and iLines cannot guarantee a stable voice connection.

With wireless, will there be a dish on my roof?

More likely then not a wireless installation would require a device mounted on the roof of the customer’s house or business. The distance the customer’s location is from the access point and signal quality determines what device will be required. Dishes vary from 12" to 16" diameter.

Can I purchase the equipment?

The Wireless radio cannot be purchased, due to the fact that it is proprietary equipment and that iLines must own the device to lawfully monitor and update the equipment as needed.  Also, all equipment fees are included in the standard monthly rate (no extra rental charges).

Is my wireless Internet secure?

Yes. iLines currently uses WPA2-AES encryption to provide secure users Internet access. This encryption is between iLines' towers and radio device installed outside. It is the customer's responsibility to secure their home WiFi routers with a password and encryption.

How does the Wireless equipment connect to my computer?

The Wireless will connect to your computer with a standard ethernet cable. If you choose to share your internet connection, then it is your responsibility to purchase and setup a router.
